On Saturday, I got up at 8:30 AM, showered, ate, and was ready when Tony got to the apartment to pick up me and Jersey for the public market. We had a pretty good time, bought a lot of food, and bought some of the best peaches I've ever had! (I finished them all by Sunday morning.) The coupons we cut out of the CITY newspaper for one cent empanadas changed to buy one, get one for one cent. It's still a pretty good deal. I also bought a pretty dress that I wore on Sunday and everyone liked.
Once we got home, we pretty much goofed off on computers and played cards until Jersey and Urug's coworker/friend Andy walked over to pick up the fishies. One of them was with her mom that day, so only six of them came. I cut up the cantaloupe, the pineapple Tony brought, and random other fruit. One of their mentors was there, and she brought Monopoly, which made for a great game.
The other kids played cards with Urug and worked on the puzzle on the floor that has been killing our brains for the past few weeks. They made much more progress than we had, and I love them forever for it. I guess they liked us/felt comfortable around us because one of them took a nap, all of them went to dinner with us at Wok with You, and then two of them even came over afterwards to chill for a few hours before I kicked them out so I could go to bed. One of them even asked if all college students were as cool as we were.
On Sunday, I got up at 8:30 AM and got ready for church - which was pretty unexciting. I mean, it was great and everything church should be, but it wasn't particularly moving. (It was the Martha/Mary sermon, for those of you who know the classic Bible stories - workaholics vs lazy bums.)
I came back to the apartment and pretty much chilled for the rest of the day. We played a lot of cards games like Go Fish and Old Maid, went to Wegmans, played more cards, and I finished the first season of Clannad. I ended up going to bed at 11:30 PM - which was pretty great. Kim and Tony came over.
Funny story - Urug had some really stale bread, and we all took turns hitting it to see if we could crack it, dent it, something - but nothing worked. So he put it up against the wall, braced himself, and punched it.
Sparks fell from the light bulbs and the electricity went out.
I put in a maintenance request to get it fixed, and the power still worked in the bedrooms and in the kitchen. But we had to run an extension cord from my room to the bathroom to have a light in there, and we spent the rest of the evening on Urug's computer or playing cards in the dark, feeling like middle school campers.
The lights were still out this morning, and Kim spent the night on our couch. When she woke up as we were leaving, she moved into my room to sleep on the floor. I told her to kick all the books and stuff out of the way.
I am exhausted this morning, but thoroughly enjoyed myself this weekend. I feel like I have lived the wonderful life of a college kid in the summer with my awesome friends!
And this Friday, I'll be going on a week-long vacation to the Jersey Shore. I couldn't be in a better mood (except if I wasn't falling asleep on myself and almost drooling).
