Perspectives, Anecdotes, and Plain Old Random-ness

Welcome! I hope you enjoy yourself! Sometimes I'll have a review of something on here, if you are interested in actual content.

September 30, 2010 10:30 AM

So, life is a bit busy - but all is well in the end!

So, last time I posted was Tuesday, hmm?

Tuesday evening I worked on my lab until I collapsed. Wednesday, I skipped my gym classes to work on that lab again - and met with a new activities board that I am head of! It was a ten minute meeting, and it went great!

Then I worked more on my lab - until I finally finished (what I could do). Then I picked up a bunch of ice cream stuff for the event on Friday and a bunch of snack foods for the potluck on Friday. Tony and I agreed that this was the most 'unhealthy' my shopping cart has ever looked. Oh, and I saved ten dollars by using my shopper's card!

Another outstanding thing - I got an invitation - to a date? to be friends? I don't know, really. Facebook says he has a girlfriend, so unless she and he both say they aren't, I won't get too involved.

But anyway - he's in my Philosophy class, so this is based off of some arguments we studied in class.

The TeleOntoCosmological Argument
(references to The Teleological, The Ontological, and The Cosmological
Arguments from Stanford)

1. Mohawks exhibit complexity, order, adaptation, purpose, and/or beauty.
2. Mohawks can't be random, they must be the product of a mind.
3. Therefore there exists a mind that produced or is producing mohawks.
4. A mind that produces mohawk is part of the definition of Molly or C****.
5. Therefore C**** and Molly exist.
6. There is a being more fun than which no being can be conceived.
7. It is more fun to exist than to not exist.
8. Since Molly and C**** exist (5), they are more fun than non-existance and are in the running for that being which no more fun being can be conceived.
9. Everything has a cause.
10. There are no causal loops.
11. There are no infinite causal chains.
12. Therefore there is a cause for Molly to accompany C**** to a Dubstep concert Thursday night.
_ Sound Argument _ Not Sound
13. If (12) is unfounded, a bad time for Molly, or a smashing success, then Molly and C**** should meet up at a party Friday or Saturday.
_ Sound Argument _ Not Sound

I said I couldn't do Thursday, but I would like to see him Friday or Saturday. Also, I googled 'Dubstep' - and it's some kind of electronic dance show.

At this point, I'm kinda confused - because this definitely looks like a date to me...

Oh well... my world doesn't revolve around boys anyway...

Today (hopefully) will be a good day - it's certainly been productive!

Compliment those around you today! It makes them happier that you noticed something small like Koehl's new glasses! I forgot to compliment him this morning, so Joan beat me to it... :(

September 28, 2010 11:15 PM

So, I haven't posted in a while, and I'm dead tired. But I thought I'll update you guys anyway!

I ended up going to both parties on Saturday night - and was responsible. I had a lot of fun with my friends and the guy that invited me to the first one. I might tell you more about this one later, depending on how this turns out...

Sunday, I skipped church since I had about 3 hours of sleep by the time my alarm went off. I turned it off and fell asleep until noon. Then I worked on my homework for quite some time, snacking on and off, until I couldn't do any more. Then I went over to the guys' place and finished up the take-home exam for Advanced Organic.

Monday was long and tiring, and I didn't really get anything done except food shopping. Oh, and I had a Philosophy exam which turned out a lot better than I thought it would.

Today I had an Inorganic exam and some meetings - which went fine but could have gone better. I went to the Hooks and Needles meeting today, and I'm knitting a scarf and crocheting another one - I switch off between the two of them so my hands can rest while I still feel like I'm accomplishing something.

Then I met up with my lab partners and figured out how to do the calculations for the lab due Thursday night - which I haven't done much of. The computer I had didn't work, so I told the other girl to email me what she and I did on her computer - hopefully that will make things go faster than spending another hour and a half working through it by myself again.

I worked some more on it once I got home, but I am pretty tired and have class at 8am tomorrow. Oh, and sometime before Friday I have to buy 5 gallons of ice cream and some toppings for an event I'm hosting for the College of Science. And we have no freezer room to store it in...

Argh! My head aches!

Remember to eat your vitamins and go to the bathroom regularly!

September 25, 2010 5:45 PM

Long day; Go away!
Never come again, OK?

I think I might skip my parties tonight and just crash on the floor.... either that or else order Chinese (again like last night) and collapse at a party in someone else's apartment....

I rather like my little poem-song....

September 25, 2010 10:00 AM

Good morning!

So, I had to come into work today at 8:45am today - which is a bummer for a Saturday, but hopefully I'll get a lot done. Normally we open at 11am, so I don't think it will be too busy before then.

I'm listening to Vampire Weekend this morning - I finally figured out how to use Grooveshark on this computer! Also, our library now uses Meebo (an online chat service) so patrons or other librarians can chat with us without leaving their home/office! And it doesn't rack up a phone bill! So I learned several new tech-y things!

Friday was fun - but we didn't do the corn maze since Mike is out of town (and we'd feel guilty if we went off without him). But I still didn't get any work done except for my laundry and some knitting. I think knitting goes faster than crochet, but who can tell when you suck at both?

Training is going on this morning, so Jersey is here learning about library things and projector things. They are all headed up to the fourth floor now, like duckies following the two training mommies!!! Hahaha!!!

The Reporter (the on-campus magazine that comes out weekly) has a section called "RIT Rings" where people can call or text in anything - and the funny stuff gets put in the paper. Anyways, this week there is a comment that goes like this:

Saturday 4:06 PM
I just heard a freshman telling other freshmen that there is a "secret" floor in the Wallace Library... which is just the fourth floor. Oh, freshmen."

And the moment I read that, I thought of two things - 1) Joanna would say something like that and 2) we changed our name from the Wallace Library to The Wallace Center.

I think I miss Joanna and have been working here waaayyyyyy too long....

On the bright side, my dad just called my mom and told her that he had finished hiking the Grand Canyon - and he sounds really healthy and alive! She's super-happy that he called her, and we can't wait for him to come back home on Sunday with all his friends.

I should probably start working on my homework now - or at least finish answering my email.

I'll close with a quote today from lovely little lady:

"Enjoy the weather before it gets too cold, and take care of your feet and teeth. When they hurt, you can't smile very well." - Mom

September 24, 2010 11:00 AM

Good morning!

OK, so Thursday was a rush of doing things (like it always is) - but at least I got a lot done. I had tons of fun at work - which always happens - and now I am knitting a 'mobius scarf'' for one of my co-workers since he thought the concept of an infinite 3-D loop with only one side was awesome. It's pretty easy to make - just sew the ends together with a turn in the scarf so that if you lay it flat, it looks like a figure 8. I also got offered a modeling job for this Sunday and invited to a party this Saturday. Jersey and Tony and I are thinking about going to a corn maize Friday (today) night, so this weekend is gonna be packed with awesome and tons of homework!

As for classes, I got out of Inorganic early and ate dinner! Then I got out of Kinetics Lab early and went home before going to my meeting wide awake and NOT BEING THE COMMITTEE HEAD!!!! It was great, even though the new committee head kept looking at me to help him whenever he said "Oh, someone will have to look that up....". But that's his problem and not mine! I've got too much stuff to do anyways!

So, today I was gonna get up at 8am, study, clean, do laundry, etc. As you can guess, that didn't happen - well, I did get out of bed and turn off my alarm clock... But then I fell back asleep until 9:45 am - so laundry will have to be after my council meeting. I still had enough time this morning to take it easy, though, since I only have to start seeing people at noon today.

So here are some updates on my life - I am now the College of Science Honors Representative for this school year!!! (I beat out the only other person running.) I have to work tomorrow from 9am to 6pm, and I think part of it will have to be unpaid since I don't want to break my 20 hours a week limit mandated by the school. I went from not-liking-leeks to liking-leeks in one day (yesterday). I have started most of my homework for this weekend already, and on Wednesday, I ate an entire box of vegan snickerdoodles (well, I shared three of them) that were also gluten-free.

And most importantly - October 1st is Worldwide Vegetarian Day - starting off Veg Awareness Month. So I would absolutely love it if every friend/family member would go vegetarian for October 1st! I think it would be so cool! So please! Don't eat meat, fish, or poultry on October 1st!!

And for those of you who want to go an extra mile, you could pledge to be vegan or vegetarian for another day, a week, or even the whole month!! I'm so excited (since I know so many people) that a large portion of campus might be veg for a day!!!

http://www.worldvegetarianday.org/
You can register your veggie-ness online and win cool things too!

Here's where I cut out and wish you all a wonderful day!!!

Every meatless meal can help:
• Reduce the risk of major killers such as heart disease, strokes and cancers while cutting exposure
to foodborne pathogens;
• Provide a viable answer to feeding the world’s hungry through more efficient use of grains and other crops;
• Save animals from suffering in factory-farm conditions and from the pain and terror of slaughter;
• Conserve vital but limited freshwater, fertile topsoil and other precious resources;
• Preserve irreplaceable ecosystems such as rainforests and other wildlife habitats;
• Decrease greenhouse gases that are accelerating global warming;
• Mitigate the ever-expanding environmental pollution of animal agriculture.

September 22, 2010 6:50 PM

Good evening!

So, Tuesday was a good day - I got a lot done, made dinner, went grocery shopping, and studied for my in-class portion of my Advanced Organic Chemistry exam. I pressed some tofu, pre-prepared meals, and went over to the guys' place for fun. I also practiced some crocheting - since I skipped the Hooks and Needles meeting to go to the grocery store. I now have my own hooks (3 of them), which means I can work on my stuff at home!

Today, I was super-tired when I woke up, and I only got five hours of sleep last night. Margie literally hopped into the shower when I got home - so I had to wait for her to finish before I could go to the bathroom. But the exam went fine - I know I have one of the questions wrong, but that's not a big deal. I have to do the take-home part of the exam by Monday, but that's ample time. I looked over it already, and it's not so bad.

I finally got on Facebook today to catch up with what I hadn't seen since last Thursday - and I had over 50 comments on my wall saying Happy Birthday! I was very pleased, and I read each of them. It's amazing how many variations of that saying there are - and Cheddar (my Thai friend) wins for being the first one to post! However, she had an unfair advantage since she's thirteen hours ahead...

Pilates was canceled today, and I almost didn't go to Aquarobics either - since it's sort of a waste of time (depending on the day of the week). But I went, which was good for me. It also meant that when I came home afterwards - I had an extra hour to chill!!! I set my alarm for 3:15 PM and fell asleep on the floor - to catch up on those hours I missed last night. So I got 2 more hours of sleep right before Philosophy!

I made some more meals to last me through my unbearably long Thursday (for tomorrow since I have work and class - with one half hour break - from 7:30 AM to 10:00 PM), and now I think I might get started on my take-home exam. Or maybe I'll end up goofing off on the Internet for a while...

Have a great day, and remember to stretch for 15 minutes a day at least!

September 20, 2010 2:50 PM

Good afternoon!

So many things have happened!

Thursday was long and dull and tiring - and I was wiped out at the end of it.

Friday, I hopped out of bed and was productive - and then we went to Ann's apartment and had a total blast!!!!!!!!! She made me laugh so hard, I feel muscles now!!!! (best kind of laughter!)

Saturday, I was a little under the weather (and Tony was too), but we pushed it aside and had a great day in NYC - and a fabulous concert! Janelle Monae opened, and she was cute, modest, and bouncy! Then, Of Montreal came out, and Kevin Barnes was scantily/sexily clad and very pumped up! And proceeded to fake sex on stage like thirty times, including once with a female pig?!?!?!

Anyways, it was so fun but so strange that people literally STOPPED DANCING JUST TO WATCH WHAT WAS GOING ON!!! There were dancers, costumes, props, and just plain weirdness for an hour and a half - all to some of the most psychedelic music you've ever heard. Oh, and did I mention that Kevin Barnes had sex like a hundred times?! There were flashing lights, projected images, monsters made of nipples - and Kevin Barnes had sex in a cage covered with aluminum foil!!!

And then we were all cheering and the encore began - and they did a Micheal Jackson medley!!! If you've heard Of Montreal before, then you should know that Thriller is right up their alley - AND IT WAS AMAZING!!! The music like blew my mind! And then Janelle came back out on stage and sang along with the rest of the band!!

On Sunday - IT WAS MY BIRTHDAY!!! Ann made me a cake for breakfast, we played boggle, and I unwrapped some presents - I got a Lady Gaga poster, the new Of Montreal album - on vinyl with a coupon for a free download and extra album art, and an Indian Vegan cookbook. Then we drove back to Rochester, where I got a card and a Vegan Brunch cookbook.

We all went out to dinner at the Korean restaurant - and when I said all - I meant, EVERYONE but Ann (since she stayed home). We learned the Korean waiter's real name - for my birthday! I ate a ton of food and proposed to him too! AND THIS TIME, HE ACCEPTED MY PROPOSAL!!!

So now I am engaged! <3 Looks like persistence paid off!

Afterwards, we came back to my place and ate another cake (peanut, fluff, chocolate vegan) and cookies (banana, applesauce, oats, raisins vegan) - thanks to Margie and Matt! I collapsed after all the food, and everyone picked up before they left. And I got into bed before midnight!

This morning, I am exhausted! Thank you, Urug for letting me copy two organic problems! I had 57 emails from one address and 108 from the other!! And I was only gone for the weekend! I told my ballet teacher that something came up and I wouldn't be able to attend - though I did go to Aquarobics and Pilates today. So I am sore and finally caught up from MY AWESOME WEEKEND!!!! And I am glad to be home where I can lie around (until class at 4pm).... which I should start getting ready for....

I hope you had a great weekend too!!

P.S. - Thanks to my mom - who send me two boxes of tea, some loose leaf tea, a cookbook for spicy food, and a new shirt!! All wrapped up in Sesame Street wrapping paper -which now adorns my wall by the Lady Gaga poster!!! You're a great mom!

September 16, 2010 10:30 PM

Good morning!

So the weather is drizzly - but I don't care because I've been in the library since 7:15 am. And I've been making money since then, too!

My day has been going well - and Wednesday went well too! I got a lot done and did some relaxing - though I need to pack to GO TO ANN'S HOUSE THIS WEEKEND!!!!

I'm so excited - you have no idea!

On another note, Joanna sounds like she's been feeling a bit blue, so I thought I would give you something (from my mom) to cheer you up!

It's "the reason why parents shouldn't have facebook." If you've seen this one before - boo hoo, you can live with re-reading it.

Have a great day, and remember your umbrella!

September 14, 2010 9:30 PM

Good evening!

My font seems different this time... not sure what happened... Oh well!

So, the last time I posted was Saturday, hmm? Well, it's Tuesday night now, so I'll fill you in on what happened the past few days!

On Saturday, I got off work at 6pm, and one of my church friends wanted to hang out. So, we walked around campus, talking for a while. I thought it would be like half an hour and then heading home, but he wanted to spend more time together. So, we ended up walking around for an hour and a half while I was starving and dying to get off my feet which were still sore from the concert the previous night.

When I finally got home, I made myself green curry with noodles and then baked some molasses cookies. While the cookies were baking, I called Ann 'cause I missed her. We talked and talked and talked and talked - two batches of cookies went into the oven and came out.

My phone died part-way through, and I plugged it in and called her back. The cookies began slowly disappearing. I realized that I had forgotten to roll them in sugar like I usually do, but by that point I didn't care. When we finally got off the phone, half of the cookies were gone. At that point, I decided I should go to bed before I ate more of them.

On Sunday morning, I woke up feeling awful. I made a quick assessment of my condition and decided to spend the morning in bed instead of at church. I sent off a quick note about why I wouldn't be there, and then I fell into the soundest sleep in the strangest position possible. I have no idea how having my leg next to my face was comfortable - especially since I can't recreate the position now that I am awake.

Then I spent the afternoon taking it easy and, of course, eating cookies. Once the evening rolled around, I got up and went to the Honors Council meeting to plan the agenda for our meeting with the Provost on Friday. We had a great time, and I ate my cookies secretly (since, you know, they weren't perfect or fit to feed to others). I had a nice talk with two of the Council members I never talk to on the way home, and then I went to bed.

On Monday, I went to class at 8am and learned how to use my model kit correctly - thank you, Matt, for giving me your old one. Then I decided that I didn't feel good enough to go to my 3 hours of fitness classes - so I went home! I made myself a nice, healthy lunch of veggies and the rest of the cookies and brought it to the cafeteria to eat with my friends who buy their lunches (and a few that bring their lunches). They helped me eat the rest of the cookies, which made me feel much better about my eating habits and got me some nice compliments too.

Then I went home and took it easy until I had class at 4pm - philosophy. I really like the professor for some reason, and he always makes my brain hurt less than it does when I read the required papers. Which is good, I guess, for a philosophy professor. Then Matt took me to Wegmans, and I bought a bunch of healthy food - no more food from a box! I've had too much insta-food lately, and I deserve better than that!

When I got home, I proceeded to fry up tofu and a wide assortment of veggies and make myself a nice big batch of white fluffy rice. I portioned out a small serving for dinner and stored the rest away before I sat down to eat. Thankfully, I killed any urges to get seconds (even though it was delicious and small), so I could keep my leftovers for lunch today. It was fantastic, and I think next time I'll add less soy sauce to give it a little more crunch.

Then Tony came and took me over to the guys' place, where I played on my computer, played video games, and had a jolly ol' time since three other people came over to hang out (in addition to the four boys that live there). Then I came home (kinda late) and went to bed.

This morning (Tuesday), I had class at 11am and a paper to print out before that. So I got up at 9am and took my time getting ready before heading off to print and learn about chemical databases! Yes, today was the wonderful 'start-searching-for-a-research-paper' day! I have several ideas I like, and I'll give them a quick look-over before asking the professor if they are OK to use.

Then I went to a meeting, to office hours, and to class before coming home. On the way home, I snagged three free veggies burgers since a couple frats were giving out free food during rush week. Then I grabbed my knitting stuff and headed to Hooks and Needles!! Hooks and Needles is the crochet-knit club on campus - of which, I am somewhat of a member. I come when I can and don't when I can't. It's the only club I've gotten involved in and haven't run for an executive position yet. And I can't see myself doing that anytime soon - since I can barely knit and learned how to crochet last week.

I had a lot of fun tonight, and it felt good to 'get my girl on' and relax. So much of my day is spent doing things that when I come home, all I do is finish up what I was doing earlier - work and class stuff. So it's nice to finish off Tuesdays with a knot in some ugly yarn and a big mug of tea. I love my iPod on nights like this - when I can finally relax and get the kinks out of my back.

And everyone loves that green hat you knitted for me, Ann. Like, every time I wear it, I get compliments on it. Matches my eyes too (kinda). Definitely matches my tea right now.

So, I should probably get around to cooking/preparing lunch for tomorrow so I don't have to do it in the morning. Oh well, maybe I'll do that later tonight - or just toss some hummus and carrots in a container. And I should go to the gym tomorrow too. At least it's good for me - and I'll sleep better tomorrow night.

Oh, and someone has volunteered to take my old position as Committee Head for the Honors Service Committee - so I might actually be stepping down from a position for the first time ever!!! Hopefully, he can keep up and do his job right... (people have to elect him first though - but he's the only one running... so as long as they don't write me in on the ballet, I should be set...) Luckily, I don't have to do much for one of my other clubs, and I might be stepping down from another one too. I want more free time to spend having fun like last night and cooking my meals instead of insta-food-ing for three nights a week.

I love you all, and you should take good care of yourselves!

Oh, and I changed my email to update this blog from - which is why there are two Molly V's now - one is new and current - and the other one isn't able to update anymore. The reason why: I was using one of my club's email addresses as the log-in for the blog, and I finally got around to making it on my own account instead of using the club email for my personal blog.

So take care, and I should be able to update Thursday morning!

September 11, 2010 1:00 PM

OK, so Joanna wrote about her favorite college memory. I thought I would too.

My favorite memory was short, but awesome.

Ann and I were playing 'The Floor is Made of Lava' in the apartment - Perkins! We were tossing couch cushions around, and I was cooking dinner at the same time. So we had to make our way into the kitchen to check on the rice, then make our way back into the living room so we could jump on the couches. It was so fun, and when the boys came over, we told them they were dead because they stepped on the carpet.

So great!!! Ann, I love you!

September 11, 2010 12:30 PM

Good afternoon!

It's Saturday!!

So, Thursday was tiring, but I managed to squeeze in a Wegman's trip, two veggie sushi packets, a summer roll, vegan dumplings, and half a pumpkin pie. My lab professor came down with an illness and won't be coming back to RIT, so we got an adjunct who told us that lab starts next week instead. Hence, the food frenzy.

Then I held the first service committee meeting, and I came across as very on top of things and responsible. Elections will be held next week, and meetings are tacked on to the end of my Thursdays (my very very very long Thursdays).

Then Friday, I spiked the mohawk with two types of gel, two types of glue, index cards, two fans, and aluminum foil - and after two hours of work, my hair decided to compromise with me. So I had a ratty looking mohawk, but it was still awesome.

Then I went to lunch, office hours, and council before heading over to the guys place and chilling until dinner and the concert.

The two opening bands were alright, but they each had a particular sound they stuck to which made their songs all about the same. A lot of folks smoked weed for the second band (Beach House), and a lot of people thought the first band was cute (The Dum Dum Girls). And one of my friends almost started a fight with a guy who was pushing him around.

BUT VAMPIRE WEEKEND WAS THE BEST!!!! SO GREAT!!! I sang along to every song I knew -and they did this one cover I didn't recognize, but I know that I've heard it before. Hmmm... ANYWAYS THEY WERE SO GOOD!!

The best part was the lights - we were in a smokey room with no lights except on the stage. And the colors switched back and forth and flashed along with the song. Occasionally the lights above the audience would crash on with the rockiest part of the song being played, and the whole audience would cheer and jump!!! So great!! And they really encouraged audience participation in their songs, which was cool.

When I got home, I had sweated off a zit (gross, but awesome) and my hair had hardened into the texture of wood. I took a shower and discovered that my nose was bleeding, and blood had spattered across my shirt. Also, it looked like my make-up had melded together and turned lime green in streaks under my eyes. Very cool, but also a little disturbing since it was skin colored originally. And my mascara didn't drip or anything, which was awesome.

For those of you who know that I don't usually wear make-up, I started put on a little every once in a while the past few weeks because it looks awesome with my indie hair cut. And I always deck myself out when going to a concert.

This morning, I ate breakfast and straightened my hair with Annie's straightener since I fell asleep with it wet and it was really bizarre looking. So now it is super straight and extra soft. And it falls into my eyes today, which is unusual. And then I went into work! And guess where I'll be until 6pm?! Work!

You have a fantastic day today, ya'll!!!

September 9, 2010 9:30 AM

Good morning!

So, I didn't post yesterday either - I guess I have less free time now that classes have started up.

Tuesday was relaxing - I had three classes, and I ended up dropping Experiential Leadership because they teacher was one of the few people types I can not stand. So, now I have 2 classes every day of the week except Friday, Saturday, and Sunday!

Yesterday was a whirlwind of classes and gym - which is a good thing and a bad thing, since I had to be at work by 7:30 AM this morning, and I am very sore.

Also, yesterday was Clarissa's birthday!!! YAY!!!! They ate most of a Vermonster and then headed back to the dorms to watch TV and chill.

I went home early and then came into work in the morning!

Have a great day, and eat your veggies!

September 7, 2010 9:30 AM

Good morning!

So, I didn't update yesterday - I'm sorry!

On Friday, I left work an hour early and went over to the guy's place, where I finished off my Chinese food from Thursday and played video games until midnight. I fell asleep on the floor, and when I woke up, Matt drove me home. :p

On Saturday, we had made plans to go to the public market at eleven - and I slept through it! I woke up at eleven thirty and felt ashamed. Luckily, they didn't mind and had gone to Jay's 24 Hour Diner for breakfast. (I can't really eat the food there - there is a fruit cup on the menu and that's it. I don't think they even have soy milk...)

Then I slept and played on my computer for several hours before deciding that I need to get out of my room sometime today. So I walked over to the dorms with my mail and sat in Gibson 4 lounge going through my mail. Normally, I would have hung out with the freshmen, but they were at Orientation stuff.

Then I called up the guys and agreed that we were going to Korean for dinner! I rode my bike over to their place - but I got lazy part way through and ended up walking it most of the way... hee hee! We stored the bike in their apartment and chilled for a little bit before we went to Korean.

It was delicious as usual and we learned several new things:

1) The Korean waiter's name is not Steve.
2) There is a new girl on the wait staff.
3) The prices went up by one dollar.
4) Tony and I can order 'the usual' and he knows what we mean.
5) Korean tour buses stop there now.

After, we went back to their place, and I played video games until 1:30 AM. Then Matt took me home, and Jersey said he would ride my bike over to campus tomorrow for work and then just leave it at my place.

On Sunday, I woke up sick. Nose running, loud coughing, the whole schbang! I made it though church all right, and then I went to work for the mandatory supervisor meeting. Then I found out that there are only three student supervisors, myself included. So we sat there and went over some of the changes that have happened this summer, and I was still reeling in shock at being the young, new supervisor after so many people got laid off or left.

Then I was supposed to go sit at a table in the club fair - but I didn't feel like it since the president of our Pro-Life Club has been neglecting her position and wondering why I haven't done her work. So I decided to skip out and go watch some boys play soccer in the cold.

Not a good idea when you're sick, but I had a lot of fun hanging out with a few freshmen.

Then I went back to work to schedule my hours for fall quarter - and I work on Thursdays and Saturdays (which means I will have to go to the market early in the morning in order to make it back for my 11am shift.

Then I went home, did some work stuff, packed my backpack for school, and went over to the freshmen dorms to hang out and watch the fireworks that went off at 9:30 PM. They were reasonably nice, though they lasted 15 minutes max, and I had a lot of fun.

On Monday, I got up early to make it to my Advanced Organic Synthesis class, in which I almost fell asleep except for the fact that my nose was running and my eye started twitching sporadically. I interviewed someone after that, and then I went home to grab a snack before I headed to go meet people for lunch at the SAU.

Then I went to the gym for: 1 hour of Aqua Fitness, 1 hour of Pilates (a lot harder than I thought and watching myself in the mirror is slightly disturbing), and 1 hour of Ballet (which turned out to be half an hour since the teacher doesn't do anything the first day). They were all low-level fitness courses, so at the end, I wasn't exhausted, but my body felt sore.

At 4pm, I went to Honors Philosophy (the class I signed up for at the last minute) and enjoyed it. Then I went home and almost died because I was still sick and very tired.

I made green curry with vegetables and noodles for dinner; then Margie let me use her Sinus/Flu tea, which made me feel much better. I did some more housekeeping stuff before crawling into bed at 10pm and crashing.

This morning, my first class is at 11am, so I got up at 9am (which gave me 11 hours of sleep last night) and had a leisurely breakfast and some nice hot tea. The reason why I got up so early was because I wanted to pack a lunch for today (though I don't know if I'm gonna end up doing that - breakfast was a lot more leisurely than I thought...)

I feel much better - though I still have the sniffles and am wearing a sweater in 73 degree weather. Thanks, Margie! Your tea was amazing and just what I needed!

I hope you have a wonderful day!

September 3, 2010 10:30 AM

Good morning,

Today I slept in until 6:45 AM - which means I didn't shower and breakfast was on the run. I am incredibly sore from yesterday - and my time sheet shows me working 11 hours yesterday - and I punched out for a half hour lunch and another half hour when I was locking up the building.

I went to Wegmans after I got home yesterday, and then I decided that I would allow myself to get Chinese take-out for dinner! I went to a small new place since my old favorite has closed. This place (Mandarin Court) was small and cute and full of the hole-in-the-wall, family-food feel!! They messed up my order the first time, but it was cheap and very good!

I got - a quart of tofu and vegetable soup, 8 steamd vegetable dumplings, an order of Ma Po Tofu, and white rice. It also came with fried noodles for the soup. AND THIS WAS ALL UNDER $16.00!!!!!!!!!!! I was super excited, and I ate quite a bit last night. But my stomach didn't feel great (from the messed up order) and I was exhausted.

So I took some home to eat today!

After I got the take-out, I went over to the boy's place and ate there while they made pizza and ate it. Then we kinda chilled for a little bit before Matt took me home. I don't know if I'm gonna go over there tonight - I'm kinda dead tired and I have choir practice tonight...

I had a dream last night that someone was waking me up in the middle of the night and telling me to get up. I got up, and they said I had won an internship in Bruges with a family to live with. I was excited, but then they said that my flight left at 7am and I had to get ready. So I started tossing things to pack into my suitcase - and I remember having like three of each item, all in different sizes.

Then they looked at the ticket and said my flight left at nine out of Buffalo and we needed to have a layover in D.C. so we could pick up the paperwork from a security officer in Terminal D. And I had to learn Lithuanian on the flight over there.

I woke up and felt even more tired than I would have normally. I guess dreaming about running around with a suitcase doesn't make you feel well rested. But I got quite a bit of sleep last night - from 11:30 PM to 6:45 AM!!! I broke seven hours!!!!

I can't wait to go home. When does the workday end again?... oh yeah, five o'clock...

Stay awake and drink lots of fluids!

September 2, 2010 9:00 AM

Good morning!

Yesterday after work, I went home and ate. Then the boys came and picked me up and took me to Petsmart where Matt bought four little fish for their fish tank! They were small and looks like the four of them couldn't even fit on a piece of toast. Then we went to their place and ate/watched the fish. We sat around and talked for a bit before I went home and straight to bed.

I'm sorry this post is so short, but today is the Wallace Center Open House!!! From 2-5pm today, we will have free food, games, photo opportunities, etc to make everyone feel at home in the library and more likely to come here during the school year.

It's going to be a lot of fun, but right now everyone is running around moving boxes of food and photocopying things and rearranging tables. I hope all of you (who can) will stop by the library today and say hi! And if one of you could bring me the Broccoli and Tofu special with a small white rice, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks and have a great day!

September 1, 2010 9:30 AM

Good morning!

So, yesterday I closed up the library BY MYSELF!!! It was a pain, since I couldn't clear the floors since I had to stay at the desk, so I just flickered the lights for like 20 mins and then turned them off. I also had to run around locking the doors and running back to the desk to help people.

Then I went home and ate gazpacho! It was super good, and I was very tired and worn out. I ended up passing out on the floor of my room for two hours, lying face down with my hand drifting along my laptop. I woke up at 8:00 PM exactly and wandered out the the kitchen, where I downed a large section of halvah for dinner/dessert.

Then I watched TV while working on my computer while eating more halvah while picking lint out of the carpet. Yay for multi-tasking! Urug stopped by and acted like he wanted to hang out, but I acted like I didn't want to and he left. I don't feel bad about that at all, especially since Annie was home and kept asking him to repeat what he said since she couldn't understand him.

(Annie is hard of hearing and frequently uses this to her advantage to ignore everything I say to her. It doesn't bother me that much since I don't talk to her often anyways.)

Then he left and sent me a text saying that she had run him down on her bike once and didn't apologize. That's how he recognized her. I thought that was a little funny and kinda like her. She's nice enough, but she's the type of person that only talks about herself and things that revolve around her.

Then I went into my room and chilled for a bit before hitting the hay around 11:30 PM. It was a nice of relaxing and avoiding leaving my apartment (which is lame and pathetic, but I like having a little guilty indulgence every once in a while).

Today at work is a party for one of my co-workers/boss that is getting married over the weekend. He's the one that scares me the most, so I'm glad he's getting tied down so he'll mellow out a bit.

Have a great day!
